The kykNET Silwerskerm Festival, where young filmmakers are given a chance to develop their talent and masters of their craft share their knowledge, is an annual film festival hosted at The Bay Hotel, Camps Bay. The 2019 festival was no different. A four-day festival that was, as always, a celebration of indigenous stories and film making.
As preferred RSVP Agency to the Silwerskerm Festival third year running at the time, Ovation ART was responsible for the invitation, RSVP management and overall guest care & logistics of the 2000 invited guests. Guests included kykNET stakeholders and sponsors, film directors, producers, and industry talent.
The Ovation ART integrated guest management system was used to its full potential during the Festival. Online registration allowed guests to pre-book from the 61 sessions (screenings, discussions, workshops) on offer to create their personalised agenda, which automatically synced to the mobile event app as well as our onsite management app. Guests simply scanned their personalised QR Code at our team of hostesses using the onsite management app to gain access to the festival grounds as well as the screenings they booked. Being able to have the event schedule in the palm of your hand, seeing real-time capacity figures per session, cancelling a session if you are unable to attend and booking another, heavily reduced empty seats in screenings.
Networking and voting for the People’s Choice Award were all made easy through the app. Guests were able to arrange 1:1 meetings with each other and easily share contact information through the app. PWC were able to export the People’s Choice Award voting results to calculate the 2019 winner – Fiela se Kind.

Our success during the Silwerskerm Festival 2019 resulted in Ovation ART proudly being part of the first ever Silwerskerm Webinar in 2020, providing support and inspiration to the film industry in a challenging year.
